good bye

Today I delivered the last piece of copy for Animal hats to knit. I wrote the introductions to each pattern in a flurry of inspiration, silliness and energy. As I wrote, I remembered the book I proposed and looked for a sign that what I had produced was a worthy replacement. The book is not what I envisaged, but hopefully, I gave the publishers what they wanted. With Monster High dolls, the Goths and monsters prevalent in children's and adult literature, I still think that we will be revelling in everything ghoulish next autumn and winter. It is done – except for the pattern checking; page proofs; colour proofs and all those little tasks that will take longer than expected.
